Kelly White was presented with the Joe Leech Memorial Award for Excellence.This award is presented to an Academic Upgrading Student who has shown academic achievement and dedication to succeeding.
Upgrading was extremely helpful. It opened doors to my future education.
The teachers are wonderful, and truly enjoy their jobs. I have recommended upgrading to many people, and will continue to do so in the future.The learning plans are interesting and laid out in a manageable fashion.

The College and Career Preparation program provides an opportunity
for adults to participate in lifelong learning, in order to facilitate their moving on to employment or further education through assessment, Career guidance, and upgrading.
The Program includes:
Communications:
- Reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, composition, research, presentations, essays. Grade 12 equivalency credit.
Math:
- Arithmetic, decimals, fractions, measurement, geometry, algebra, and trigonometry. Grade 12 equivalency credit.
Biology:
- Grade 12 equivalency credit.
Chemistry:
- Grade 12 equivalency credit.
Physics:
- Grade 12 equivalency credit.
Computers:
- Computer basics, Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Career skills:
- Problem solving, decision making, goal setting, team work, time management, organizational skills
Career guidance:
- Career planning, resume writing, and job search techniques.

- Frequent start dates throughout the year at most campuses means you may be admitted in as little as two weeks.
Note: An exception is the Owen Sound Campus where the Ontario Basic Skills program (OBS) has one start date in September and runs until May. Regular upgrading is continuous intake. Please call the campus for more information.
- Attend full-time or part-time, day or evening, leaving time to manage child care and other commitments; further flexibility can be arranged. Scheduling options vary and are determined by each campus.
- Classes are held in a college environment designed for adults.
- All students in the program are adults.
Benefits

- You did not finish high school
- You left school before entering high school
- You have been out of school for many years
- You have been accepted into college or university but do not feel you are ready to work at a post secondary level
- A lack of education is holding you back from achieving your career or personal goals
Funding
College and Career Preparation includes the Literacy and Basic skills (LBS) program and the Ontario Basic Skills program (OBS) sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Most applicants will qualify for free training under the LBS program. Limited assistance with child care or travel costs may be available.
Applicants who do not qualify for LBS/OBS sponsorship pay a small fee.
Who can apply?
You are invited to apply to the College and Career Preparation Program if you are 18 or older, and a resident of Ontario.
Did you know?
Employers know that graduates of the program work at a level equivalent to grade 12.
